Head Coach: Mary B. Shaw
Phone: 834-3334, e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
Assistant Coaches: Tara Boone, Grace Lee
Our coaches act as role models for our swimmers in regard to good sportsmanship, fair play, cooperation, manners and team spirit. We ask all swimmers and parents to offer their support whenever possible. Feel free to contact the head coach by phone or e-mail, or before or after practice. Coaches will be busy with many duties during practice and need to be focused on the swimmers. Any questions regarding swimming issues should be directed to the coaches. Any management issues should be directed to a board member. Coaches will make sure that all swimmers are taught the correct strokes, starts and turns, and will recommend additional assistance if necessary. Coaches will keep times on each swimmer and update the records regularly. The coaches have the final say in completing heat sheets for the swim meets. Please get to know our coaches. This helps everyone communicate and get a better understanding of how the swimmers are progressing.
MEET THE HEAD COACH

MEET THE ASSISTANT COACHES
Tara Boone is a Mt Pleasant native who began her swimming career at Snee Farm at the age of 6. She went on to be one of the most decorated swimmers in the Charleston are, still holding a record in the CCAA. She is the youngest of four children who refused to be left behind so she has always been very competitive. She was a member of the City of Charleston swim team (SMRT) and went on to earn a scholarship to swim at Notre Dame. At Notre Dame she was team captain and learned there is more to swimming than getting a best time. After graduating, she found her passion in coaching swimmers of all levels and has coached for the past 10 years for the SMRT team and LTP. She is married to Jonathan Boone and has three young boys, Jonathan, Jr. (7), Charles (5) and Grady (18 mons). Tara took a step back from coaching to spend more time with her family and she was thrilled to be able add some seasonal coaching back into her life. Through working with Hobcaw swimmers at LTP and getting to know families out and about, the vibe at Hobcaw is distinct and inviting. Tara is thrilled for the opportunity to work with the Marlins and be part of the HYC family.
